2019 | Chinese New Year Garden Party at the Istana
Putu Mayam (string hoppers), is a snack made from rice flour, and is usually eaten with sweetened toppings such as grated coconut or gula melaka (palm sugar) or with savoury dishes such as curry, sambal or stew.
I was invited as one of the chef supervisors to teach and assist volunteers of the People’s Association Culinary Interest Group at the Chinese New Year Garden Party at the Istana (the President’s Residence). This is an annual event where the President, the Prime Minister, as well as Cabinet Ministers and grassroots leaders, attend!
2017 | Doyenne – Voice, Not an Echo
Doyenne – a classic description of a respected lady in her profession and experience in her respective field. I am most honoured and humbled to be one of the 50 women featured in this book, about the success stories of some of the most inspiring Indian women in Singapore.
This is a must read for our generation and beyond. A legacy that I dedicate to each and every person that I have come into contact. If I had made a difference to that one person, I feel inspired too. I am also inspired by the other 49 featured doyennes who had gone through the rough and tough paths. Let’s live and inspire more!
I must thank the Little India Shopkeepers and Heritage Association (LISHA) Women’s Wing, especially Joyce; to have engaged on this project to search for inspiring ladies around Singapore. It was definitely not easy. I appreciate each one of the gorgeous members who took pains to make this a legacy to Singapore and our future children.
Personally, this is a must read for all teenagers. All schools of learning and the libraries should carry copies of this book. To obtain a copy, contact LISHA or go to your local library.
